Welcome to Weir River Farm and World's End Camps
2025 Counselor-In-Training Program Overview

CIT applications for the 2025 season will open on Thursday, January 9, 12PM

Are you interested in learning how to educate and inspire young people? Do you want to share what you know about nature, farms, and/or the coast? Weir River Farm and World’s End Camps' CIT program offers 15‐17 year olds an opportunity to further their understanding of farming and ecology while developing important skills working with children in an outdoor setting.

Counselors0in-Training (CITs) assist camp counselors throughout the camp day, actively leading games and activities, and creating e a welcoming atmosphere for all campers. To gain the most from their experience, CITs will complete a guided activity with campers from planning and development to implementation. The activity will be evaluated by the Camp Lead Educator who will provide support and feedback.

This a volunteer program that fosters a positive experience for campers, counselors, and CITs alike.

Program Logistics
The CIT program runs from June 23–August 15, 2025, Monday-Friday, 8:30AM-3:30PM at our camps in Hingham, Massachusetts.

CITs must apply for a minimum of 2 full week sessions. Maximum number of weeks is based on demand.

We take CIT’s responsibility very seriously and reserve the right to deny an applicant or remove a CIT from the program if they are not behaving up to organizational standards. Before beginning to work with campers, CITs complete a required orientation training with the Camp Director. CITs must be CORI and SORI checked to be responsible for other campers.

Please note: To comply with Massachusetts camp regulations, CITs must be at least 15 years of age during the camp sessions they wish to attend. We are not able to consider exceptions.

Program Expectations

  • Demonstrating the ability to plan and implement a fun and educational activity with campers.
  • Receiving feedback and support from staff to help them improve their skills.
  • Gaining experience for future camp employment
